HOW TO DEACTIVATE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT
If you're looking to take a break from Instagram or
deactivate your account temporarily, you can follow these steps:
Note: Deactivating your account is not the same as
permanently deleting it. Deactivation temporarily hides your profile and
content, while deletion removes your account and all associated data
permanently.
- On
Mobile:
a. Open the Instagram app on your device and log in, if
necessary.
b. Tap on your profile picture in the bottom right to go to
your profile.
c. Tap the three horizontal lines in the top right corner to
open the menu.
d. Select "Settings" at the bottom of the menu.
e. Scroll down and tap on "Account."
f. Tap on "Temporarily Disable Account."
g. Select a reason for deactivating your account from the
drop-down menu.
h. Re-enter your password to confirm.
i. Tap "Temporarily Disable Account."
- On
Desktop:
a. Open a web browser and go to the Instagram website (www.instagram.com).
b. Log in to your account if you're not already logged in.
c. Click on your profile picture in the top right to go to
your profile.
d. Click on "Edit Profile" next to your username.
e. Scroll down and click on "Temporarily disable my
account" at the bottom right.
f. Select a reason from the drop-down menu.
g. Re-enter your password to confirm.
h. Click "Temporarily Disable Account."
When you deactivate your Instagram account, your profile,
photos, comments, and likes will be hidden from other users. However, they will
be restored if you decide to reactivate your account later by logging in again.
Remember that you can reactivate your account at any time by
logging in with your username and password. If you're sure you want to
permanently delete your Instagram account (not just deactivate), the process is
different and irreversible. Always make sure you have a backup of any important
photos or data before deactivating or deleting your account.
